This blog is about gay pop culture of the days gone by. If you remember the music, movies, and people that defined gay equality from the past, you might be a "Vintage Gay". Some of my favorite memories growing up as a gay teen include
*) Roaming the aisles of Blockbuster Video, ginning up the courage to rent "Torch Song Trilogy" for the 5th time.
*) Reading the comic strip "Life in Hell" in "The Advocate" or the local independent free gay newspaper.
*) Listening to Bronski Beat ...while my parents were out of the house.
As gay culture evolves, I want to be sure that my favorite parts are remembered.
To paraphrase Jeff Foxworthy, "As I walk down Halsted Street, people stop and ask me, 'How do I know if I'm vintage gay?'
"And I say...if you dress for comfort and aren't surrounded by straight women, you might be vintage gay."
